It may be that the first thing to do is simply wait and see if the feelings persist for more than two weeks. This may be the course of action chosen by your GP.


Exercising regularly can boost your mood but can be hard to stay motivated when you are experience the fatigue associated with depression. The best thing to do is find something you enjoy doing and focus on doing something consistently. This could be a group activity or something solitary. The group activity may bring further benefits of social activity, however.

Pharmaceutical Intervention

Consult with your GP to see if this is right for you but antidepressants can treat the symptoms of depression but are usually used for moderate to severe cases.

Talking Therapy

There are a range of therapy techniques you can use to treat depression. The most important thing is to find a counsellor you have a connection with and then discuss with them what style they think will work for you.
