"As a counsellor, my main qualification is that - like my clients - I have human feelings, thoughts and behaviours. I make myself available for my clients by listening deeply and non-judgementally to their situation, and reflecting back what I hear. Often, this alone can help them feel really understood, accepted and accepting of themselves. By building a good working alliance and forming a mutual understanding of what's then needed, I help clients get to the change they want.My journey into being a counsellor began with being a musician, connecting with people through their love of music both in its excitement and its capacity to bring emotional satisfaction where words could not. This led to a deep interest in the mind and the emotions through meditation; bringing peace and insight without words or music. This in turn led to counselling; bringing a person's own insight into their situation through listening deeply to them, while allowing space for what can't be expressed.Specific areas where I have had the most experience are; relationships where a client is a carer, disability (particularly visual impairment), issues around ASD/neurodiversity, end-of-life matters, and anxiety.
