"My name is Julie Mcaulay, I am a qualified counsellor and offer adult counselling, both face to face and online. I specialise in working with those who are suffering from low mood, anxiety and depression. We can all have negative thoughts such as 'I'm not good enough’, 'I'm unlovable', or overthinking 'what will happen next'. We can even try and predict the future, 'something bad will definitely happen', but these thoughts can often be extremely unhelpful. It is when these thoughts don't stop, or start to take over making us feel and act differently then it is time to stop and talk. Counselling can often be a difficult process but the benefits when it works can be life changing.During counselling sessions I work in a person centred way using my knowledge and experience to tailor sessions to each individual. Why do I work in a person centred way? Like every person our mental health, life-experiences and coping strategies are all different so having a one-size fits all approach doesn't work. I provide a safe space for clients to work on their well-being, treating every client as an individual and allowing them the space to find out why they feel the way they do and along the way find ways to improve negative thought patterns.I often get asked why I do the job I do and although it can be difficult the reward of being part of a process where a person improves their mental well being often from a very low point is what drives me to continue. I am also passionate about removing the stigma around ‘mental health’ and this passion drives me in my work to make every client feel safe, accepted and able to be heard freely. "
