"Hi, I'm Paula, a Person- Centred Counsellor and Creative Therapist. Thank you for taking the time to read my page.Achieving my potential and allowing change has been a key motivator for myself and this led me out of working as a teacher in education into the world of counselling. Noticing positive change and shift that can happen for a person if they are just listened to was a significant factor for me to qualify as a counsellor. I work with all age ranges; children from the age of 5, young people and adults.Over the last three years I have provided over 900 counselling sessions for both adults and young people. I work with Murray Hall Community Trust delivering counselling sessions for teachers, support staff, children and young people in schools. I work in both mainstream and special education and I have a special interest in working with young people with ADHD.I provide on-line, telephone and face-to-face counselling through my private practice “Poppy Fields Counselling and Creative Therapy”. I chose the imagery of poppies as you often see them flowering in fields where the soil might be hard and dry, but they manage to grow and flourish. They are a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, and I consider this is often reflected in counselling; we remember what we have lived through, explore our emotions, and endeavour to find ways to experience healing and peace for our next steps in life.I am a member of the Creative Counsellors fellowship as I have found using creative interventions such as art, sand tray therapy, cards, nesting dolls and puppets very effective when working with clients; both adult and children. It is always the client’s choice, but sometimes when it is hard to find words, using a creative technique can unlock emotions which can then be gently explored. I am committed to continuing professional development and take regular courses to extend and update my knowledge and skills. In my free time I enjoy taking long walks with my dog in nature and relaxing playing my flute. "
