Bio

"I first became interested in counselling in the late 1990s, when working for a forerunner of the NHS 111 service. About the same time a close friend had a mental breakdown, whilst we were on holiday, and later went on to be diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. Together these two events led me to look at becoming a therapist.I studied from 2006-09 at the Wealden Institute in Crowborough, East Sussex, and volunteered at the Bohemia Counselling Centre in St. Leonards-on-Sea. More recently I studied at the Iron Mill College, Exeter, Devon from 2013-15; I was a volunteer for Counselling for Carers (Action East Devon) from 2014-17.Since qualifying as a therapist, I have developed my interest in high sensitivity and high sensation seeking; I have continued to further my knowledge in this subject and went to an international gathering attended by people from all over the world, in June 2018, which included a live talk by Dr Elaine Aron via Zoom on the latest research. During lockdown I wrote for HSP World and continue to increase my knowledge in this field as well as other neurodiverse topics including Autism and ADHD.I work best with clients who present with general anxiety, depression, social anxiety, panic attacks, Low Self Esteem, low self-confidence."
