"What areas of Mental Health am I passionate about?I feel I can help those the most who are coming to terms with life-changing circumstances, or those who wish to explore their sexuality in an accepting non-judgmental space. I am deeply comfortable helping people explore their experience of bereavement and look to connect with where you are, not where others think you should be. Also, those who feel a sense of loss of control over their own life that can come from sudden and perhaps unwanted changes such as chronic illness or becoming a carer. These circumstances and others can lead to feelings of depression, stress and anxiety which can be helped by being gently explored at your pace. I am passionate about the transformative power of compassion and studied a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mindfulness and Compassion at Coventry University. Compassion can transform issues around low self-esteem, relationships with others, ourselves and even habits, and chronic illness. So, why choose me as your Therapist?I believe in working with you and what has happened with you rather than work with what is 'wrong' with you and meeting you where you are at. I will create an online environment where we can work with events that have happened or are still happening. We will work to build trust between us, and I will do my best to see your world from your perspective, meeting you in a wholly non-judgemental and accepting relationship. By bringing compassion to your experience, growth and living well with life on life's terms can be achieved. What got me into providing Mental Health Therapy? A series of events in life forced me to not only face my own mortality but also face everything I'd avoided my whole adult life. This lead me to a residential therapeutic setting where I was sensitively helped to unpack issues. My therapist had a real connection with me, a sense of compassion, and worked with what had happened to me rather than what was 'wrong' with me. This period in my life allowed me to recognise and take responsibility for how I went forward in life as well as repair mistakes and damage from the past. The experience lead me to study my degree in Counselling and go out into the world and help others. What skills and experience do I have?I am warm and empathic and really try to put myself into your shoes to develop a connection with you. My training as a therapist has been to put you first and only work at your pace, not to direct you to look at painful difficult things that you are not ready to handle.I have worked in caring roles for many years, some more medical, some more social and me becoming a Mental Health Therapist is a continuation of that. I have over 6 years experience facilitating Mindfulness classes and workshops. I have over 4 years experience working as a Mental Health Therapist in private practice delivering sessions both face to face and online. I also have 2 years experience working with unpaid carers as a volunteer counsellor which was part of my degree. My degree is in Humanistic Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham. It focussed on Person-Centred Psychotherapy; addiction; grief and loss; and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. More recently I have done further training to deliver therapy online. "
