Bio

"My passion is people and what makes them who they are. If I can get to the end of the day and feel that I have made a positive difference to someone, then it's been a good day. I work with whatever a person brings to a session and together we explore how the body is responding to emotions, thoughts and feelings. It is working with the body, that can make a difference. I qualified as a Counsellor in 2005 and graduated from Southampton University in 2010, with a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Since then I have achieved a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling in Secondary Schools, and for many years have studied Formative Psychotherapy and Somatic practice; this is about understanding the impact stress and trauma has on the body and how having an awareness of this can help to make lasting changes. I have recently left my employed role to focus on providing therapy. Prior to that, as well as running a part time Counselling practice, my career was spent working in services for people with learning disabilities (LD). Initially I trained as a LD Registered Nurse, a registration I still maintain, and this opened the doors to so many different roles. I spent 20 years working for the NHS; a year for a charity, delivering services for those with Autism, and worked for Hampshire County Council from 2004 - 2020, again, in LD services. Whoever I am working with, it is the person that matters and my relationship with them."
